HP 4000 series switch | Advantages
The
HP 4000 series switch are that kind of switches which provide the most
efficient and reliable services. They are scalable, expandable and offers a
low-cost migration to 10/100 switching for the desktop with respect to Gigabit
uplinks. These switches are used usually for supporting the high availability
networks. This series includes the 40 autosensing 10/100 ports and 5 open
module slots.
Features and Advantages
HP 4000 series switch provides the stacking
capability which includes the single IP address management for a virtual stack
of up to 16 switches. They also enable the port monitoring that allows you to
monitor the traffic using a switched port. So they enable individual to view
several ports at one time with a network analyzer. This series allows
configuring the switch from any web browser on the network by allowing the web
interface. This switch series has five preinstalled HP Pro Curve Switch 10/100
Base-T Modules and five universal slots for installing any of the supported
switch modules.
Following
are the features as well which are captured by the HP 4000 series switch:
• Console Interface:
A full-featured, easy
to use, VT-100 terminal interface for switch management, or for telnet access
to the switch.
• HP Top Tools for Hubs & Switches:
SNMP-based graphical
interface is used to manage your entire network included with your new switch.
• Switch Meshing:
They enable the dynamic
load balancing across multiple active redundant links to increase available
aggregate bandwidth.
•
Swappable Modules:
This series permits the
modules and mini GBICs to be added or swapped without interrupting the network.
These
switch series are multiport switches that can be used to build amazing
performance switched workgroup networks. They used to store and forward devices
that provide low latency for great speed networking. Throughout this a manual,
these switches will be condensed as the Switch 4000, or when mutual features
are being described, as the Switch 4000M. The switch series we are talking
about has the optional redundant power supply for the uninterrupted power.
The
RMON and XRMON in them provide advanced monitoring and reporting capabilities
for statistics, history, alarms, and events. They provide the VLAN support and
tagging which enables up to 30 port-based VLANs and dynamic configuration of
802.1Q VLAN tagging. They also provide the security between two groups.
The
CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) in these devices enables real-time mapping of
nodes to switch ports. The automatic broadcast control (ABC) minimizes IP and
IPX broadcast traffic throughout the network. In other words, we can conclude
that these machines are best for the purpose they are built for. They provide
the redundant links while preventing network loops. These are the most reliable
and efficient devices HP has ever manufactured.
